PN-PAS ALREADY INFIGHTING & SWAMPED WITH RUMOURS AHEAD OF ANNOUNCEMENT OF CANDIDATES – GERAKAN’S DOMINIC, WARNED BY PAS TO STAY OUT OF MALAY SEATS, LOOKS SET TO CONTEST IN BAYAN LEPAS – EX-HEALTH DG NOOR HISHAM DENIES STANDING FOR PN IN SELANGOR – WHILE IN T’GANU, PAS SUPPORTERS YANK OUT PARTY FLAGS TO PROTEST BERSATU CANDIDATE BEING GIVEN THE KIJAL SEAT

Gerakan president Datuk Dominic tipped to contest in Bayan Lepas ahead of Perikatan’s big reveal tonight

Yesterday, Tasek Gelugor PAS Youth vice-chief Mohamad Ikhwan Afiq Mohamad Anwar issued a warning aimed at Lau to “stay out of contesting in Malay seats”.

The PAS man warned that the division will field its own independent candidates in Telok Ayer Tawar and Permatang Berangan if those seats were distributed to Gerakan and Bersatu, which are the Islamist party’s partners in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.

When asked to comment on this, Lau said the candidates chosen by PN will be based on their capabilities.

Gerakan will field 19 candidates in Penang while Bersatu plans to field 11 candidates, and PAS, 10.

Lau said the disagreements on the selection of candidates is normal.

“This happens in other parties too, look at DAP yesterday,” he said, referring to reports of some upsets when its political rival announced its Penang candidates.

He labelled the warning by Tasek Gelugor PAS youth as “differences in opinions” and miscommunication.

“This is the first time we are working together in six state elections so there are bound to be differences and miscommunications,” he said.

He said it will take time for them to iron out the differences and to improve communications between parties within the coalition.

He said they will try to resolve any issues between the parties internally instead of voicing it publicly through the media.

“Let us resolve this internally first,” he said.

When asked if he will be fielded in Bayan Lepas, Lau neither deny nor confirm it.

“Wait for the official announcement tonight,” he said.

PN is scheduled to announce its list of candidates for Kedah, Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan at each respective state simultaneously tonight. MM

PAS flags in Terengganu allegedly removed by supporters over disagreement with Perikatan’s choice candidate for Kijal

KUALA LUMPUR —- PAS supporters in Kemaman, Terengganu purportedly removed the party’s flags two nights ago in a show of protest against the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition’s choice of candidate for the Kijal state seat in next month’s election.

An unnamed source claimed the Islamist party supporters were upset that the proposed candidate from Bersatu is not a local, Utusan Malaysia reported this afternoon.

“What happened was only to be expected and the PAS supporters only protested after the Bersatu candidate was to be placed in the Kijal state seat,” the source was quoted as saying.

According to the news report, the flags were said to have been removed from a road divider in front of the Petronas petrol station in Bukit Kuang last Monday night but has since been replanted by other PN supporters.

Kijal, one of the 33 state seats in the Terengganu state legislature, was won by former menteri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said of Barisan Nasional in Election 2018 who plans to defend his seat this year.

Ahmad had been challenged by PAS man Hazri and Pakatan Harapan won with a margin of 1,265 votes. MM
