ZAHID & ANWAR CHARGE AT KELANTAN’S DOOR – ‘RISE UP FOR CHANGE,’ DPM TELLS SECOND-WORST CONTRIBUTOR TO COUNTRY’S ECONOMY – ‘WE WILL NOT PROMISE THE HEAVENS, BUT INSTEAD, ASPIRE TO DEVELOP THE STATE. OUR SYMPATHIES TO THE PEOPLE OF KELANTAN, FOR PAS HAS FAILED TO ADMINISTER THE STATE FOR 33 YEARS’

Zahid: K’tan only contributes 1.8pct to nation’s economy

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has revealed that Kelantan only contributed 1.8 percent to the nation’s economy.

Speaking at the Jelajah Perpaduan Madani rally in Machang, Kelantan yesterday, Zahid blamed 33 years of PAS rule for this.

“Kelantanese have to work in other states because there are no jobs here,” he said, according to Sinar Harian.

Checks on the Department of Statistics Malaysia’s OpenDosm website revealed that in 2021 GDP by state dataset – the latest for this category – Kelantan’s contribution to the national gross domestic product for that year was at 1.9 percent.

Kelantan’s contribution was the second lowest in the country, while Perlis (0.4 percent) was the lowest.

Zahid said BN and Pakatan Harapan will not promise the heavens, but instead, aspire to develop the state.

“Our sympathies to the people of Kelantan, for PAS has failed to administer the state for 33 years,” he said.  MKINI

Rise up for change, Nik Nazmi urges Kelantan voters

People in Kelantan need to rise up and demand change in the upcoming state polls to ensure their demands, especially regarding basic necessities, are fulfilled.

Kelantan and Terengganu PKR chairperson Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said the state government was seen as not being able to deliver and solve the problems of its citizens.

“The central government has stated its stand of wanting to help Kelantan develop better.

“In fact, we have started many projects, including the flood mitigation project to tackle the longstanding flooding issue in Tumpat,” he said.

Nik Nazmi said this during his speech at the Madani Unity roadshow and Kelantan Unity Machinery launch near Bukit Tiu yesterday, in the presence of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Nik Nazmi also stressed that there was no reason why Kelantan, which is led by an Islamic party (PAS) should be one of the poorest states in the country.

“We want the people of Kelantan to come home and vote to benefit from the same change as other states,” he added.
