PN can make Selangor a super state, says Saifuddin
Bersatu leader Saifuddin Abdullah says menteri besar Amirudin Shari has failed to realise such a vision for Selangor.
PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional will ensure Selangor is developed to its full potential if it wins the upcoming election in the state, says Saifuddin Abdullah.
Speaking at a pre-election rally here last night, the Bersatu leader said Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari had failed to realise the vision of a “super state”.
He added that the state Pakatan Harapan chief should focus on developing the state instead of boasting about his election victory over Azmin Ali, his former mentor turned political rival.
The vision of building Selangor as a super state already existed when Azmin Ali was the menteri besar, but Amirudin, his successor, had failed to realise it.
“So this is something PN would do if we are given the mandate,” Saifuddin said at a pre-election rally for Selangor Baharu (New Selangor), the Selangor PN election theme.
“Selangor should be looked at as a super state. So we should also choose a worthy menteri besar, not someone who is proud that he had defeated the former menteri besar. That is not the narrative to build Selangor,” said Saifuddin, who is head of Bersatu and PN in Pahang.
At the parliamentary elections in November, Aminuddin had resoundingly defeated Azmin who was defending his former stronghold of Gombak. Azmin held the seat for three terms, having won it when he was PKR deputy president.
Saifuddin said Selangor should not be compared with other Malaysian states as it has the potential to be on par with great economies in the region.
“We should be comparing Selangor to Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong. Otherwise, we are not doing justice to what Selangor can achieve,” he added.
Sanusi attacked due to his ‘prowess’ as Kedah MB, says Tuan Ibrahim
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man claims Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional seem to be making the state polls all about Sanusi Nor.
GOMBAK: PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man says the continuous attacks against Sanusi Nor by rivals were due to his “prowess” in leading Kedah as its menteri besar.
The most recent episode, Tuan Ibrahim said, involved accusations that the PAS elections director had insulted the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Shaafuddin Idris Shah, with remarks regarding the appointment of the state’s menteri besar.
Tuan Ibrahim attributed the mounting attacks to Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional’s (BN) intent on capturing Kedah in the upcoming state elections.
“It’s as if this election is all about Sanusi. Why is that? It is because of his strong leadership and achievements.
“They (PH-BN) are not focusing on Kelantan. There have been no ceramah by PH there and the same goes for Terengganu. They’re intent on capturing Kedah,” he said during a Perikatan Nasional (PN) ceramah here last night.
The other three states going to the polls on Aug 12 are Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Penang, which were governed by PH prior to the dissolution of the state assemblies.
Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain revealed that the police have received 57 reports against Sanusi over his remarks on the Selangor sultan’s appointment of Amirudin Shari as menteri besar.
In a statement late on Friday, Sanusi said he had apologised to the Selangor ruler and explained the true meaning of his remarks regarding the appointment of the state’s menteri besar.
Tuan Ibrahim, who is also Kubang Kerian MP, defended Sanusi over his remarks, saying that the menteri besar was not insulting the ruler but that his words were being twisted by their political enemies.
He also commended Sanusi for promptly apologising to the Selangor ruler. FMT
Saifuddin Nasution says Sanusi was fined RM500,000 for alleged theft of rare earth elements in 2022
The Kedah Lands and Mines Offices fined caretaker Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor as the chairman of the Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) of Kedah because of activities carried out in the district of Sik.
KUALA LUMPUR — Caretaker Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor was fined RM500,000 last year, allegedly for stealing rare earth elements (REE), according to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
Saifuddin Nasution said the Lands and Mines Offices fined Sanusi as the chairman of the Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) of Kedah because of activities carried out in the district of Sik, Berita Harian reported late last night.
“Tonight I want to ask Sanusi as the MBI chairman if he received a letter from PTG chairman Datuk Fauzi Mustafa at the end of last year.
“The letter called for MBI to pay a compound of RM500,00 for stealing rare earth elements in Kampung Chong, Sik. You are the menteri besar, you are the MBI chairman; the letter was dated October 4, 2022,” he was quoted as saying at the Kedah Unity Machinery Launch at Padang Awam Pekan Guar Chempedak in Kedah.
He said that the compound fell under Section 426(1) of the National Land Code, which states that any person who extracts rock material from any land without the legal authority is liable to a fine of not more than RM500,000, or imprisonment of up to five years, or both.
According to Saifuddin Nasution, the alleged incident occurred at 2.30pm on September 24, 2022.
He added that he will continue to expose Sanusi’s wrongdoings to enable Malaysians to make the right choice in the coming state elections.
“We appoint the menteri besar to manage the state, not to be a thief. This is the beginning and we have a series of disclosures with complete documents because we believe the people of Kedah are intelligent.
“Do not ever underestimate the intelligence of the people in Kedah. Hopefully at least (winning) 19 seats in the Kedah state legislative assembly will become reality,” Saifuddin Nasution who is also Pakatan Harapan secretary-general was quoted as saying.
Berita Harian also reported that Sanusi had denied the involvement of MBI Kedah in any REE exploration and mining activities in the Bukit Enggang Reserve Forest.
The PAS politician was reported saying the exploration work in the area had not begun since the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry had yet to issue the relevant standard operating procedure.
Sanusi who is also Perikatan Nasional election director denied that the activities involved caused river pollution as the water used in the area did not flow into the river due to a system in place to direct water back to the pump. MM
