CABINET MINISTER’S SON ARRESTED IN DRUG BUST IN LANGKAWI? – COPS SAY 2 INDIVIDUALS WHO TESTED POSITIVE ‘NO FAMILIAL RELATIONS TO ANY POLITICIAN’ – BUT SILENT ON OTHER PATRONS THERE WHO TESTED NEGATIVE

Cops deny politician’s son arrested in Langkawi drug bust

Police have denied that a senior politician’s son was among those detained during a raid at an entertainment outlet in Langkawi, Kedah last week.

Langkawi district police chief Shariman Ashari confirmed the raid but clarified that the two individuals arrested for drug abuse were not related to politicians.

“Two locals were detained after testing positive for drugs, and these two have no familial relations to any politicians.

“Drug tests on other patrons were negative and they were not detained in a lockup,” he told Malaysiakini.

He did not respond to further queries regarding the matter.

Malaysiakini had contacted him over an internal police report which showed that the politician’s son was among those in the club. The politician is also a cabinet minister.

The report was released by self-proclaimed police whistleblower site Edisi Siasat.

According to the report, the 34-year-old man and three others were in a VIP room where police found marijuana and cocaine.

Malaysiakini has contacted the politician for comment.
