POOR CONFUSED UMNO TRAPPED BY ITS OWN RACISM – DEMANDS ‘MORE RESPECT’ FROM MUHYIDDIN – BUT RESPECT IS EARNED & CERTAINLY WON’T BE GIVEN BY A RIVAL RUTHLESS ENOUGHT TO THREATEN ‘EMERGENCY RULE’: THAT’S WHY UMNO & PAS UNABLE TO CAPITALIZE ON MUHYIDDIN’S DEBACLE – UNABLE TO CALL SNAP GE & UNABLE TO FORM NEW GOVT BECAUSE DAP REFUSES TO SLEEP WITH THE CORRUPT, EXTREME & RACIST IN UMNO & PAS – AND READY EVEN TO DUMP ANWAR SHOULD HE FORSAKE THE PAKATAN STRUGGLE FOR HIS OWN GREEDY PM AMBITIONS

PAS reaffirmed support for the Perikatan Nasional government today, hours after Umno announced it would remain an ally to the ruling coalition.

In a statement today, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the Islamist party’s 18 lawmakers will support PN led by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to ensure economic and political stability.

“At the same time, PAS urges all BN parliamentarians to remain steadfast in supporting the leadership of the prime minister and the PN government, which was built following the collapse of Pakatan Harapan,” he said.

“Let us urge Malaysians to pray for continued protection so that the (Covid-19) outbreak will fade soon and our country will become safe again.”

Against this setting, Barisan Nasional lynchpin Umno met last night to decide the party’s future course.

After a three-hour conference, the Umno Supreme Council announced the party would continue to back PN, a decision that was all the more surprising following weeks of talk that the Malay party was reviewing its alliance with Bersatu.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi called for a national reconciliation agenda for all political parties, including the opposition, except DAP and PKR.

“We call for a national peaceful agenda to be formed immediately, consisting of all political parties under PN.

“We are reaffirming our earlier stance that we will not have any relationship with PKR or DAP. All of our MPs will stand behind and support PN,” he said. THE MALAYSIAN INSIGHT

Umno reaffirms support for PN but wants more respect, consensus

The Umno supreme council has reaffirmed support for Perikatan Nasional, but wants better cooperation based on “respect” and “political consensus”.

It also rejected working with PKR as mooted by former Umno president Najib Abdul Razak.

The Umno supreme council retained its previous decision without cooperating with PKR and DAP.

“Umno MPs will continue supporting the PN government.

Zahid also suggested that the government adopts a more inclusive approach beyond political ideology in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic impact faced by the people.

He reiterated that Umno fully supported the decree from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Conference of Rulers and supported a political ceasefire to ensure the country’s political stability.

Zahid, who is also the Bagan Datuk MP, said the party would continue its effort to strengthen Muafakat Nasional in accordance with its decision made in Umno’s last general assembly.

The Umno Supreme Council held tonight’s meeting to deliberate the views and suggestions brought up in this morning’s meeting between BN parliamentarians.

Matters raised during the earlier meeting include BN’s support for Muhyiddin and declining to work with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

According to BN Padang Besar MP Zahidi Zainul Abidin earlier today, some of the BN lawmakers also preferred snap polls to be held as soon as the Covid-19 pandemic is under control.

All Umno leaders who attended tonight’s three-hour meeting declined to speak with the media when they left around 12.45am. MKINI
