DR Mahathir Mohamad today advised politicians from both sides of the divide to heed the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decree and put aside all politicking.
The former prime minister said the government should stop any political actions, such as depriving MPs who do not support the government from their rightful allocations as elected representatives.
“There is also (the action) of buying opposition party supporters to bring down the government and forcing elections to be held in an attempt to seize power.
“Rejecting the registration of political parties such as Pejuang, and various other political actions, such as bribery in elections,” Dr Mahathir said on his blog chedet.
Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said after discussing the request with the Conference of Rulers, the king was of the view the federal government’s measures to fight the pandemic have been effective.
Dr Mahathir who is also Pejuang chairman said the party welcomed the Agong’s advice to stop politicking.
“Of course this is not limited to opposition politicians only, but it includes government politicians.
“Pejuang will remain obedient to the advice of the Agong, so that politics in Malaysia can become stable.
“We are willing to cooperate in the efforts of all parties to address the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he added.
