IPOH: An investigation will be conducted on the dissemination of a memorandum linked to three government state assemblymen, including Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
The other two elected representatives, allegedly mentioned in the memorandum, known as the “Memorandum of the people of Perak to the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah”, were Paul Yong Choo Kiong (PH-Tronoh) and Abdul Yunus Jamahri (PH-Kuala Kurau).
Perak state assembly speaker Ngeh Koo Ham said he did not know anything about the distribution of the document, which was placed on the tables of state assemblymen.
“Based on preliminary information, it was distributed by the opposition chief’s assistant.
‘’However, we will investigate further, including viewing footage from the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras. There is a possibility this distribution of the memorandum is the work of the opposition itself,’’ he said during a debate on the 2020 Perak Budget here today.
Ngeh said the opposition chief Saarani Mohamad (BN-Kota Tampan) would be summoned when the investigation is conducted.
Jamilah Zakaria (BN-Trong) interjected the speech of Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin (BN-Kampung Gajah) to inquire about the distribution of the memorandum. This caused a ruckus in the assembly.
Since he was appointed as menteri besar, Ahmad Faizal (PH-Chenderiang) has often been the target of speculation that he might be toppled by government elected representatives.
Yong, who is also housing, local government, public transportation, non-Islamic affairs and Perak new villages committee chairman, is now facing a charge of raping his Indonesian maid.
The third assemblyman mentioned in the memorandum, Yunus, is the public utilities, infrastructure, agriculture and plantation committee chairman.
He is a PKR representative in the state administration, together with Tan Kar Hing, who is Simpang Pulai assemblyman and Perak tourism, arts and culture committee chairman.
The PKR leadership in May had made a request to the state government to change one of the executive councillors from the party.
