PETALING JAYA: A Malaysian that had one too many drinks on board an airplane has been detained in the United States after fighting with passengers and flight attendants.
American news portal Quartz reported that Goh Wei Sing had gotten inebriated on board a Japan Airlines flight to San Diego from Tokyo on Aug 13.
Wei was a student at San Diego Mesa College at the time and was on his way back to resume his studies.
The portal, quoting court documents, said that Goh had drank six “mini-sized” bottles of wine before he tried making his way to the business class section of the aircraft, claiming that he was being pursued.
Flight attendants repeatedly tried to calm him down but Goh had refused to cooperate.
The authorities were then called to detain Goh when the plane landed safely in San Diego, and the portal wrote that Goh had no recollection of the scuffle.
It added that Goh’s student visa had been revoked and that was still in custody pending his arraignment on Sept 12.
The Star has written to Goh’s lawyer in the United States for the latest developments in his case.
