IPOH – A 48-year-old Sri Lankan woman sliced off her husband’s private parts and throat at their rented house in Meru early today.
Ipoh acting district police chief Superintendent Mohamad Nordin Abdullah said the 40-year-old man, who is also Sri Lankan, sustained severe injuries and currently receiving treatment at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here.
“Police received a report on the incident at 12.36am.
“We believe there was a misunderstanding between the couple, triggered by jealousy.
“A knife believed to be used by the woman in the incident has been recovered. We are still investigating,” he told reporters today.
Mohamad Nordin added police believed the victim was sleeping when his wife suddenly attacked him.
“The man is in stable condition, and the police are launching a manhunt for the wife – in her 40s – who has gone missing.”
Mohamad Nordin said the couple have valid documents and have been staying in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur before moving to Perak.
The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
