PETALING JAYA – Wanita PKR vice-chief Faizah Ariffin has called on Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin to resign over her plan to take the Home Ownership Campaign (HOC) to Hong Kong and China.
Faizah slammed the campaign, calling it a betrayal of Malaysians, in a Facebook posting today.
“Before this, we fought to defend the rights of Malaysians. Today the minister wants to sell the properties of Malaysians to China and Hong Kong.
“I urge the housing and local government minister to resign,” she said.
Earlier today, Zuraida defended the proposed HOC, following criticisms she was neglecting the welfare of citizens through this plan, by emphasising that only houses costing RM1 million and above would be sold to foreigners.
Zuraida, who is also PKR vice-president, said the proposed HOC would be a long-term plan, adding that such units would be left empty if not sold.
Zuraida said yesterday that the government might organise a HOC to cater to foreign buyers in China and Hong Kong, drawing criticism from members of the public who accused her of trying to build relationships with foreign investors.
