The council of six state PKR chiefs who pledged their support for party president Anwar Ibrahim say they will not meddle in the ongoing probe into the sex video scandal implicating deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, an aide to Anwar, was arrested in connection with the scandal.
Kedah PKR chief Johari Abdul, the coordinator of the newly-formed council, said police have every right to make arrests in the course of carrying out their investigations.
“The police are acting based on the law. If they want to arrest (anyone) in the investigation, that is their power. We have rules and regulations.
“Nobody is above the law,” he told reporters after the council’s first meeting at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya today.
Johari was asked how the council viewed the arrest of Farhash earlier this week.
The Perak PKR chief was among three people nabbed in Johor Bahru on Tuesday to facilitate investigations into the scandal.
The arrests came a day after former Santubong PKR Youth leader Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz and five others were remanded.
