THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy chief commissioner will lead investigations into a report lodged by an Umno politician against a minister, said Latheefa Koya.
The newly minted MACC chief said she will not be involved in the case in any way.
Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam yesterday lodged a reportat the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya over bank transaction documents shared online that showed money being transferred to the minister.
The same minister is also implicated in gay sex video that went viral yesterday. He has not commented on the bank transactions or the video.
She said in a statement that the anti-graft agency will investigate all reports professionally and impartially.
“This is with regards to media queries regarding a report lodged by Lokman Adam to the MACC with regards to allegations against a senior minister,” Latheefa said.
“The investigation in this case will be handled by my deputy and his investigation team.
“I will not be involved in any way, whether in investigation or decision making.”
Latheefa had quit PKR to take up her MACC appointment.
Meanwhile, Lokman had also lodged a police report on the sex video allegedly involving the minister and another man.
The other man, Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, this morning said it is him in the video, and publicly named the minister involved in the liaison that allegedly took place in a hotel in Sandakan last month.
Haziq is the senior private secretary to Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.
His Facebook page also describes him as the Santubong PKR Youth chief.
In another development, Sabah police today said federal police have taken charge of investigating the video.
Commissioner Omar Mammah was reported as saying that the investigation was under the purview of Bukit Aman even though the incident was said to have been recorded at a hotel in Sandakan. – THE MALAYSIAN INSIGHT
Police report on sex clip featuring ‘minister’ now with Bukit Aman
Police say they are investigating a police report lodged over a sex video clip featuring a man resembling a cabinet minister.
The report was lodged yesterday by an individual believed to be Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam.
When contacted by Malaysiakini, Lokman said he had lodged the report at Putrajaya district police headquarters.
“It’s under the purview of Kajang police as I mentioned in the report that I saw the clip when I was in Kajang,” he disclosed.
Without naming the complainant, Selangor police chief Commissioner Noor Azam Jamaludin confirmed that police had received a report on the sex video clip filed by an individual.
“The report has been referred to the federal Criminal Investigation Department for them to conduct an investigation,” he said in reply to a text message from Malaysiakini today.
Malaysiakini has contacted IGP Abdul Hamid Bador for further comments surrounding the investigation.
Also today, one of the duo featured in the video, Muhammad Haziq Abdullah (above) claimed that it was he and the minister in the video.
A video of the admission was posted on his Facebook page.
Haziq is the senior private secretary to Primary Industries deputy minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.
Yesterday, Malaysiakini reported that the video clip was systematically sent to members of the media and political party members.
Journalists were added into various WhatsApp groups into which the video was uploaded.
Yesterday, Lokman had also lodged a report at the MACC headquarters against the minister purportedly featured in the sex clip for what he claimed were allegedly suspicious money transactions totalling millions in a foreign account under his (the minister’s) name. MKINI
