MALAYSIA has emerged among the top three winners of the Mrs World pageant, a first in 35 years.
Kokilam Kathirvailu, 34, was announced as second runner-up in the Mrs World 2019 contest, held on Saturday at the West Gate Resort in Las Vegas, the US, said Mrs Malaysia World national director Harveen Kaur.
The pageant featured contestants from 38 countries, she said in a statement today.
The winner of this year’s competition is Jennifer Le of Vietnam, with South Africa’s Matapa Maila Rikhotso emerging as first runner-up.
Harveen said Kokilam is scheduled to arrive home at 8.55pm today.
She said the main aim of the pageant is to be “a celebration of married women, to capture the success of marriage and use it to bring more joy to the world”.
The Mrs World contest was first held in 1984. It now has national directors in 80 countries.
