SERI KEMBANGAN: A manager of a goldsmith shop was shot dead by robbers in a jewellery heist at a hypermarket here today.
In the 7.13pm incident, the victim, aged 28, was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot on the chest.
Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said four suspects on two motorcycles were seen entering the premises.
“Based on the CCTV recording, three of the suspects, wearing full-face helmets, entered the hypermarket and burst into the goldsmith shop.
“Another suspect waited outside the hypermarket. During the incident, the victim and another employee, a woman, were in the shop.
“One of the suspects shot at the manager when he did not respond to their demands,” he said during a press conference at the location.
Fadzil said all the suspects escaped with four trays of jewellery, while the other employee was unharmed.
“It happened so fast, in just about two to three minutes. Initial investigation found that the suspect had used a semi-automatic pistol, based on the bullet casing recovered at the scene.
“Effort to track the suspects is ongoing and the case is being investigated under Section 302 and 395 of the Penal Code for murder and armed gang robbery,” he said.
