Khairy mocks Bersatu’s political appointees to GLCs
Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has mocked the latest political appointments made by Rural and Regional Minister Rina Harun.
Rina, the Bersatu Wanita chief, had appointed two party supreme council members and a lawyer to entities under her ministry.
“Pakatan Harapan will put political appointees in GLCs – Malaysia Baru – breaking its promises since May 10, 2018,” Khairy said in a Twitter posting.
Bersatu supreme council member Sukiman Sarmani was appointed as the Universiti Teknikal Mara (Unitek-Mara) chairperson while another supreme council member Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidah Sanusi was appointed as Mara Corporation Sdn Bhd chairperson.
Meanwhile, lawyer Haniff Khatri Abdulla, who has represented Prime Minister and Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the past, was appointed as the chairperson of Lembaga Kemajuan Wilayah.
In a statement today, the Rural and Regional Ministry said the appointments were recommended by Rina.
It added the proposed appointments were presented to Mahathir, who gave his consent.
