KUALA LUMPUR – The United States will suffer more in the long trade war with China, says Alibaba Group Holding Ltd’s co-founder Jack Ma.
“I’m very concern that the US will suffer more in the trade war.
“The trade deficit was a problem accumulated over the past few decades, and it cannot be solved overnight,” Ma said after making a special appearance via a conference call at the China Conference organised by the South China Morning Post.
“Trade wars will cause many problems for many, not only to China, but any (of the) countries which are connected to these two countries (US and China). It will also last very long,” the billionaire technopreneur said.
“We should focus on trade opportunities, education,” he said, in response to questions from the master of ceremony in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday (Oct 10).
Ma said he had not lost hope of the dispute being resolved.
He said he was “almost optimistic” about the trade war between the United States and China, saying that there were still a lot of opportunities, even in bad times.
“If you are not optimistic, don’t be an entrepreneur,” he said, drawing laughter from the crowd.
