The new iPhone models, as expected, come with an eye-watering price but the good news is that Apple has cut the prices of older models – the iPhone 7 and 8 – by up to RM1,000.
Following the announcements of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR, Apple Malaysia’s online store has discreetly adjusted the prices.
The iPhone 7 was released in 2016 and the iPhone 8 in 2018 – do note that the prices would have dropped over time and during the ‘tax holiday’ when GST (Goods and Services Tax) was zero-rated.
The new prices are as follows and in the brackets are the prices of the models at launch:
• iPhone 8 64GB costs RM2,899 (down from RM3,649) and 256GB is RM3,599 (down from RM4,399).
• iPhone 8 Plus 64GB costs RM3,299 (down from RM4,149) and 256GB is RM3,999 (down from RM4,899).
• The iPhone 7 32GB costs RM2,199 (down from RM3,199) and 128GB is RM2,649 (down from RM3,699).
• The iPhone 7 Plus 32GB costs RM2,749 (down from RM3,799), and the 128GB is RM3,199 (down from RM4,299).
In addition to the reduced prices, Apple Malaysia also pared down the range of models for sale and has removed the iPhone X, iPhone 6 series and iPhone SE.

The prices for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR have not been released in Malaysia, though in the United States they are priced at US$999 (RM4,140), US$1,099 (RM4,550) and US$749 (RM3,100), respectively.
