ARAU – An 11-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by four men at a house in Taman Bersatu here on Sept 2.
It is learnt that the girl had kept the incident a secret from all but her close friends. But her school teacher, suspecting something amiss, was able to pry the information from her.
The teacher immediately informed the girl’s parents, who lodged a police report here yesterday.
“The alleged incident occurred 2.30am on Sept 2. The girl had left her home in Felda Chuping with three male suspects, aged between 15 and 20, whom she had met in May.
“They rode two motorcycles to the Taman Bersatu house where another suspect, aged 15, was waiting for them,” said Arau district police chief Superintendent Nanda Maarof.
He said that the men then took turns raping the girl in a room in the house, before sending her home later that morning.
“The four suspects, who are unemployed, were traced and detained.
“They have been remanded for seven days until Sept 19,” Nanda said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 375 B of the Penal Code and provides for a sentence of a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of 30 years’ imprisonment, and caning, if convicted.
