It was reported yesterday that the party had decided not to be part of the ceramah because it was unhappy with the distribution of seats in the state for the next general election.
State PH election director Salahuddin Ayub said Stulang assemblyman Andrew Chen would represent DAP at the talk in Pasar Khamis, Sg Tiram.
“When the posters were printed, DAP had not yet confirmed its representative. It was just a technical mistake.
“DAP has now confirmed its representative, and will be with us at the talk,” Salahuddin told The Malaysian Insight.
He brushed off claims that DAP was sidelined by Tebrau PH because the party wanted to contest in one of the three parliamentary seats in the “Johor Baru raya” area.
Salahuddin, who is also Amanah deputy president, said such assumptions were inaccurate.
The three parliamentary seats are Johor Baru, Tebrau and Pasir Gudang.
In the 13th general election, PKR had contested the three seats and lost.
“DAP wants to contest there, and the discussions are ongoing. Prior to this, it was a PKR area. However, tonight’s event is organised by Tebrau Bersatu on behalf of Tebrau PH,” said Salahuddin.
“There is no issue of stopping DAP as this is PKR’s area.”
He said it was the practice of Johor PH to include all component parties in all programmes in the state.
He said it was due to miscommunication that DAP’s rep had been left out of the promotional posters.
A pamphlet had stated that only reps from PKR, Bersatu and Amanah would be featured at the talk tonight.
Besides Salahuddin, the other main speakers are PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar and Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir.
