Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be making his first ever speech in Sarawak since leaving Umno and BN this Sunday.
The Pakatan Harapan chairperson will be speaking in Kuching during a coalition ceramah centred around its manifesto for the state.
Also scheduled to attend are DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, Amanah elections director Hatta Ramli, and state Harapan leaders Chong Chieng Jen, Baru Bian and Mohd Fidzuan Zaidi.
Opposition figures from the peninsula have often run into trouble when entering Sarawak – which has autonomous control over immigration into the state.
However, sources within the Sarawak chief minister’s office told Malaysiakini that Harapan leaders including Mahathir, Lim, and Hatta would be allowed in for the ceramah.
This Sunday’s ceramah will be held in front of the Everrise BDC supermarket at 6.30pm.
It is not yet clear what will be in Harapan’s manifesto for the state.
The coalition, however, will be looking to present a stronger united front, after in-fighting between PKR and DAP, led to a poor showing at last year’s Sarawak state election.
