PUTRAJAYA – Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin remains tight-lipped on his candidacy for the Football Association of Malaysia presidency despite Monday being the last day to submit nomination papers.
Saying that he has a busy schedule ahead, Khairy was noncommittal when asked on his supposed meeting with FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin.
“I’m not sure when I will meet him. I have a busy day but at some point today I will,” he said.
An aide to the minister said that he has back-to-back meetings and will be in the office the whole day.
On Sunday, Khairy said he would be meeting the secretary-general on the matter.
Nomination papers are to be submitted by 5.30pm, Monday.
Other candidates in the running for the post are Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, former FAM deputy president Tan Sri Annuar Musa, and FAM integrity committee chairman. Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat.
Last week, Tunku Ismail received the blessing of his father, Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, to contest the FAM presidency.
