WHY DEFLECT ATTENTION WITH NAJIB’S PEKAN? AZMIN AS GOOD AS ADMITS HE MAY LOSE HIS GOMBAK SEAT WITHOUT PAS HELP

PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali has brushed aside suggestions that he would be fielded in Ampang during the next general election.

“I said before that I’m not interested in Ampang. If (the party) needs me to go elsewhere, I am interested in Pekan,” said Azmin, according to Sinar Harian.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has been the Pekan MP since 1976. He only came close to losing once – in 1999 during the height of Reformasi.

Rumours about Azmin’s move to Ampang surfaced following speculations by Ampang Umno division head Ismail Kijo that incumbent Ampang MP Zuraidah Kamaruddin was not popular with the voters.

Ismail added that Azmin was also feeling threatened in Gombak, which the latter has represented for two terms.

Azmin is also the Bukit Antarabangsa state assemblyperson and Selangor menteri besar.
