FORMER prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is truly blinded by power and ambition in calling for the release of Anwar Ibrahim, said former political aide Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
“I express my regret that Dr Mahathir chose to mischievously politicise a criminal case that has already been decided by the court of law.
“I urge him to respect the court’s decision. As a former prime minister, Dr Mahathir should know better. I am the real victim of Anwar’s criminal act,” said the media and political consultant on Facebook.
The post was accompanied by a report on Dr Mahathir and Anwar’s lawyer calling for the PKR leader’s release.
Saiful Bukhari, who had met Prime Minister Najib Razak and his aide before lodging a police report against Anwar for sodomy, said Dr Mahathir had forgone his principles and perverted the meaning of justice to achieve political objectives.
“In October 2014, Dr Mahathir expressed his sympathy towards me as a victim when I visited him at his Yayasan Perdana office, with my wife and newborn son.
“It’s true that in politics, there are no permanent friends or enemies, just interest. And that interest, unfortunately, serving for the worse, trumping justice, truth, over power. ”
After a long absence, Saiful Bukhari and his wife, Nik Suryani Megat Deraman, reappeared at the Umno general assembly last year.
The couple, who claim to be political and media consultants, had a booth at the Putra World Trade Centre, selling women’s clothes and accessories.
Saiful Bukhari, who testified that he kept Anwar’s semen in his anus for three days before lodging a police report, told reporters that he was helping his wife, a former TV3 news reader, conduct analyses.
He claimed the company, Nang Surya, had more than 20 lawmakers from both sides of the political divide as its clients.
