After suffering a crushing defeat in the Pengkalan Chepa PAS division election, Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz has claimed that he contested for fun.
Pengkalan Chepa was once helmed by his late father and venerated PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.
Nik Abduh, who is also Pas Youth chief, obtained only 37 votes compared to incumbent Izani Husin’s 209 for the division’s deputy chief post.
In an Utusan Malaysia report, Nik Abduh was asked about the allegations against him, especially from Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), which the daily said appeared to be celebrating his defeat.
“Let those who slander temporarily celebrate (my defeat). I only contested for fun. My current position (Youth chief) is taxing enough,” said the Pasir Mas MP.
Meanwhile, Sinar Harian quoted him as stating that he was delighted about his defeat.
“If I win, I am happy, If I lose, I am much more happier,” he said, adding that what is important is to remain committed to the party’s struggle.
Yesterday’s election witnessed PAS deputy president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah retaining his post as Pengkalan Chepa division head uncontested.
