KUALA LUMPUR – DAP will be swapping the Tanjung Piai and Alor Gajah parliamentary seats with PPBM for Ayer Hitam in order to face off with MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong who is defending the Ayer Hitam seat.
However, another information source says DAP may likely let Amanah’s candidate run in Ayer Hitam on a DAP ticket in order to appease the frustration among Amanah grassroots.
Tanjung Piai is a Malay constituency with a large number of Felda settlers while Alor Gajah was a “borrowed” seat from PKR in the last general election.
When contacted by Sin Chew Daily, Johor DAP chairman Liew Chin Tong said, “The latest arrangement will make Wee Ka Siong very, very worried.”
Based on the 2013 electoral roll, Ayer Hitam is a mixed constituency with 37.96% of Chinese voters.
Meanwhile, a reliable Pakatan Harapan source told Sin Chew Daily PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his son Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir would likely contest in Kedah.
“Even if PH will not win the next general election, at least it can recapture Kedah.
“Constituencies Mahathir can consider include Kubang Pasu, Langkawi and Jerlun.”
