ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police here stopped a protest by a group of Pakatan Harapan supporters on Monday morning.
The group – that gathered to protest against Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin’s alleged involvement in a land scandal in the state – had originally intended to hold the protest at Masjid Kota Iskandar, which is next to Bangunan Sultan Ismail, where the state assembly meets.
However, the protest had to be moved to the Kota Iskandar Bus Terminal, approximately 200m from Bangunan Sultan Ismail due to tight security around the building.
Mohamed Khaled had said last week that he would address the allegations during his rounding up speech at the state assembly on Monday (Dec 4).
“I am not going to run. I’m here,” he had told reporters on Thursday (Nov 30).
State DAP publicity deputy chairman Sheikh Omar Ali, who was part of the protest on Monday, claimed the group only wanted to meet Mohamed Khaled.
“We want him to take a step back from his official position because this matter involves the rakyat,” he said.
