Pakatan Harapan has conducted its first round of seat negotiation in the absence of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) as the latter has yet to identify the seats it wants to contest.
“(They have) yet to do their homework or research on the seats they are going to contest,” said PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution.
He said Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir and vice-president Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman (former Election Commission chief) were supposed to join the meeting as planned.
“But in the last communication with Mukhriz, he told me that Bersatu needs more time to identify the seats, and that had been entrusted to Abdul Rashid,” he said.
Despite this, he said Harapan decided to continue with the seat negotiation among the parties which had done their homework and have achieved some progress.
