JELI – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he is confident of a major victory for Barisan Nasional in Kelantan in the upcoming 14th General Election.
Zahid, who is also Umno acting deputy president, said this was because BN has local leaders who aspire to bring progress and development to state.
He said this was best reflected in Jeli, where BN’s state leaders managed to realise their dream and develop the constituency.
“Jeli is developing fast and the urbanisation here is well received by the people.
“BN can being similar progress to other areas in Kelantan,” he said during a meet-the-people gathering at Dataran Makan-Makan Jeli here tonight.
About 10,000 people, including the Orang Asli, attended the gathering.
Present were Jeli member of parliament and International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub and other senior BN leaders.
During the function, Zahid also launched the Merdeka Ride of Superbike Association of Malaysia.
Zahid said it was important for the Kelantan to have a close relationship with Putrajaya so that funds meant for development could be easily channeled to the state.
Meanwhile, Mustapa in his speech thanked the deputy prime minister for his frequent visits to Kelantan, especially Jeli.
“His (Zahid) visits show that he, as well as the Federal Government, is concerned about the welfare of the Kelantanese.
“The Federal Government has helped the state a lot in terms of development, such as upgrading several mosques and taxi stations in Jeli,” he said.
