KUALA LUMPUR — Naza Italia, the official Ferrari importers to Malaysia pulled off a coup of sorts by revealing the Ferrari GTC4Lusso T in tandem with the global debut of the same model at the Paris Motor Show.
The Ferrari GTC4Lusso T sounds quite a mouthful, but it is Ferrari’s idea of a ‘daily driver’ that can be used for daily commuting — the GTC4Lusso T, in a nutshell, is a two-door, 4-seater hatch (for want of a better description), fitted with a 3.9 litre V8 with twin turbochargers.
This might seem sacrilegious to the Ferrari tifosi, but business is business, and I suppose Ferrari needs an answer to the Panamera and the Quattroporte. At least they have not folded completely by not going the four door path.
Ferrari’s idea was to have a ‘less’ powerful car that was more comfortable and easy to drive, with more seats — an earlier version, the GTC4Lusso revealed in March 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show had a 6.3 litre V12 powerplant had 680 horsepower and all-wheel drive and 4-wheel steering — the toned down GT4Lusso T still has 610 horsepower, only rear wheel drive, but still retains the 4-wheel steering. The smaller engine and the rear wheel drive only drive train has saved some weight.
Power is transmitted to the road via a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, and Ferrari have a unique boost management system that maintains linear acceleration through the gears – this is to trim away the turbo lag at lower engine speeds while limiting the power peaks at high boost to maintain a driving sensation that is similar to that of Ferrari’s naturally aspirated engines.
“Naza Italia expects that the Ferrari GTC4Lusso T will be a new favourite among Malaysian Ferrarasti and that this model’s warm welcome will be reflected in its sales,” said Datuk Wira Hj SM Faisal, Group Executive Chairman of Naza World Group of companies.
The base price of the Ferrari GTC4Lusso T starts at RM1,088,000 (excluding duty and customisation options).
