You have to take your hat off to the premier stateman’s in being able to keep pace with new technology as he appeared for his second Facebook Live interview recently.
The live video streaming app which arrived in April last year has become all the rage as another way for social media users to make their online connections in real time.
The 91-year-old Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has certainly embraced this new trend although going ‘live’ also meant revealing his hidden agenda for all to see as well, in real time.
“The cat is finally out of the bag. Fourth Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad actually wanted to comeback to power as the Seventh Prime Minister, as he admitted to his Facebook fans live through the social media interactive engagement earlier today,” the latest blog posting on bigdogdotcom highlighted.
With the title, ‘Quad erat demonstratum’ which is Latin for providing proof, the blogger made the point that Mahathir has demonstrated his true ambition in the interview.
In the second episode of Mahathir’s web show #HangpaTanyaCheDetJawab, which was aired on his Facebook page and ably choreographed by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) youth chief, the very polished public speaker and debater, Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman, the former prime minister let slip what was really on his mind all along.
“I can’t belakangkan (go behind) my friends in Pakatan Harapan, if they have such a proposal and if there is agreement (on it), maybe I will be forced to consider.
“But at this moment, I disagree with becoming the prime minister. I have stated that after I retire I will not become prime minister anymore,” he said initially.
However, old habits die hard and the need to stay in control even after he is no longer the elected prime minister in office is plain for all to see.
“I feel that when I retired also, that at the very least my views are sought by the ruling party on certain issues or problems faced because I was prime minister for 22 years, I have much experience and information that may be useful.
“That’s why if there is a government formed after this 14th general election, I am given an opportunity to give my opinions. If there are questions that need discussions, I am prepared to take part in the discussions to find a solution to the problem faced,” he added.
On bigdogdotcom, the blogger pointed out that all the past declarations about ‘saving UMNO’ and the country was all hot air as Mahathir only wanted to get back control.
“Hence, all the notion about “Saving UMNO” to “Saving Malaysia” the past twenty five months of outright attacks against Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak is nothing but absolute bollocks!
“It is all about he wanted power, because all along he had the intention of doing it by proxy or franchised. First, it was through Fifth Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and when it is clear that his successor was not toeing the line he had drawn, he attacked and intended to ouster his former Foreign Minister,” the blogger points out that Mahathir had put his support behind Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak thinking he could still pull the strings.
“Then he threw support around Prime Minister Najib. He hoped Prime Minister Najib went along what he wanted to see. Dr. Mahathir even masked his intention to be the ‘puppet master’ with the notion of the ‘President’s Council’ be set up for ‘advisory purposes’.”
However, when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak choose to govern the country based on his own terms for the people’s interests, not Mahathir’s, he decided that he had to remove Najib using whatever means possible, the blogger concluded by pointing out that unlike Singapore, Malaysia has no need for a ‘Senior Minister’ or ‘Minister Mentor’ posts that were created for the late Lee Kuan Yew.
