SLOWDOWN IN SIGHT: BULGOGI BROS THE LATEST TO CLOSE DOORS IN MALAYSIA AFTER TIM HO WAN

KUALA LUMPUR – Korean BBQ chain Bulgogi Brothers announced the complete closure of its local operations yesterday, joining other recent brands that are leaving Malaysian shores.

In a brief post on its Facebook page, the firm informed customers that it will “shut [its] grills” at its last remaining outlet at Paradigm Mall in Petaling Jaya.

“All good things must come to an end. We would like to thank all our customers throughout the years for your unwavering support. It’s been an absolute pleasure to serve all of you,” the firm said.

Other Bulgogi Brothers Malaysia outlets had quietly ended operations prior to the announcement.

The firm did not disclose the reason for its cessation, but patronage at its outlets had visibly dwindled since its introduction here in 2012.

However, the Seoul-based chain continues to operate in its home country as well as in the Philippines and Canada.

The announcement follows the earlier exit of Hong Kong’s Michelin-starred Tim Ho Wan, which withdrew from Malaysia citing a “soft” local market and heavy losses.
