PETALING JAYA – The Wall Street Journal reported that from the cache of emails of Republican donor Elliott Broidy and his attorney wife Robin Rosenzweig, it learned that the close ally of President Donald Trump was in negotiation with Jho Low to influence the Department of Justice to drop its investigation on the 1MDB scandal.
The emails, dated during the past year, revealed that Broidy and his wife discussed setting up a consulting contract with Jho Low’s representatives.
“The messages include draft agreements between Ms Rosenzweig’s California law firm and representatives of Mr Low about the possible terms of their business engagement.
“In one draft, there is a proposal that includes a $75 million fee if the Justice Department quickly drops its investigation,” WSJ reported.
Along with the contract drafts, the emails also appeared to show Broidy prepared talking points for prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak ahead of his visit to Washington last year that included a meeting with Trump and other officials, it reported.
