LUNDU – The resignation of four DAP lawmakers from Malacca should not come as a surprise, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He believed that the party’s constant flip-flopping of principles, with members now in cahoots with political personalities who had fought against DAP in the past, did not go down well with supporters.
“We know that banding together in politics, through marriages of convenience, never last and this should be understood by the people,” Dr Ahmad Zahid told reporters after a gathering with Rela personnel here Sunday.
Four DAP elected representatives – Kota Melaka MP Sim Tong Him, Duyong assemblyman Goh Leong San, Bachang assemblyman Lim Jak Wong and Kesidang assemblyman Chin Choong Seong – quit the party on Sunday.
Sim said DAP had deviated from the party’s goals and objectives.
“This (development) is a manifestation that DAP is facing some internal problem, they are in crisis,” said Dr Ahmad Zahid.
He called on the people to analyse and evaluate their trust in DAP, considering that their own lawmakers have left the party due to a loss of confidence.
“While we have no wish to interfere in matters outside our party (Barisan Nasional), this incident goes to show that DAP is only good at ‘barking’ and is unable to give effective service to the people,” he added.
