PAKATAN Harapan will confirm the line-up of its presidential council before Hari Raya, said Parti Amanah Negara deputy president Salahuddin Ayub.
Salahuddin said a meeting would be held soon to decide on the logo as well as the final list of names in the council, which will lead the opposition coalition in the 14th general election.
“If there are no obstacles, we will try to submit the presidential council line-up to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) before Hari Raya.
“There were a few things we discussed during our meeting last Friday, such as the progress made and we promise to bring forward this discussion in our next meeting.
“We have the structure ready but now we are just polishing it as we want everyone to participate and have their position.
“Overall, everyone agreed on the terms and conditions regarding the positions that we want to finalise,” he said today at Wisma Amanah Negara in Kuala Lumpur.
The Malaysian Insight previously reported that disputes over the leadership line-up had stalled PH’s registration as a formal coalition.
It was reported that former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who is serving a five-year jail term for sodomy at Sungai Buloh prison, wanted to keep the original PH line-up, and this scuppered the opposition coalition’s plan to unveil its line-up at its last meeting.
While the majority of PH leaders had agreed to a new line-up which would see Dr Mahathir Mohamad as chairman and Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as president, Anwar insisted on the original line-up.
In the original line-up, Dr Mahathir would be the adviser, while Dr Wan Azizah would be the chairman. The three vice-chairman seats would be filled by Muhyiddin Yassin (Bersatu), Mohamad Sabu (Amanah) and Lim Guan Eng (DAP).
