PETALING JAYA – Penang tycoon Tan Sri Tan Kok Ping has once again denied that he is one of the businessmen being investigated for tax evasion and corruption.
He said he had given his statement to a local daily on Sunday to deny the allegations and affirm that he was not involved in the probe.
Tan also welcomed authorities to investigate him as he had done nothing wrong.
Last week, it was reported that the accounts and assets of two Tan Sris, worth hundreds of millions of ringgit, had been frozen.
The two were arrested following joint raids by the National Revenue Recovery Enforcement Team, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the police and the Customs Department on separate occasions.
A third businessman with a ‘Datuk Seri’ title is also under investigation.
The suspects are under probe for evading tax and being involved in corruption, costing the government millions of ringgit.
