KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has arrived at Wisma MCA for a closed-door briefing with MCA leaders to discuss the party’s preparation for the next general election.
Najib, also the Barisan chairman, arrived here at 5.35pm and was received by MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, and secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan.
The briefing is being held behind closed doors, but reporters had already gathered at the lobby of Wisma MCA here as early as 3.30pm.
Earlier, Liow told reporters that Najib is visiting the party’s headquarters to find out more about MCA’s preparation.
“I have met Najib at his office several times but I thought it would be best for him to see for himself. Therefore, I invited him here,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ong said Najib was here to make sure the party is prepared for the general election.
“The Prime Minister could dissolve Parliament anytime soon. He is here to make sure all the preparation work has been done,” he said, adding that MCA central committees, Wanita MCA and MCA Youth leaders will be attending the briefing.
Ong denied speculation that the briefing will focus on seat allocations and candidates for the general election.
