A SINGER who went by the stage name “Kang Yu” died of a heart attack during a singing competition in Sungai Siput, Perak, reported Nanyang Siang Pau.
Hong Guo Xing, 53, was the fourth contestant to go on stage during the event featuring 35 others at about 9pm on Sunday.
He sang jue kou bu ti ai ni (Won’t Say Loving You Anymore), before coming down from the stage to enjoy fried chicken wings with his girlfriend. He then started to feel dizzy before experiencing a fit. He died shortly after.
Several witnesses said Hong, who had undergone heart surgery in India, was seen trying hard to catch his breath after his performance.

Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported that Wang Meng Fei, who has seven children, was touched when he saw the invited guests all dressed up in red T-shirts during the celebration on Sunday. Some of his relatives even came from China.
Wang’s eldest daughter Rui Fang said they took four months to contact the guests for the grand dinner for 750 people.
She said her siblings would take turns to host a birthday bash for Wang, but decided to make it big this time in view of his old age.
According to the daily, Wang’s birthday falls on the 27th day of the 11th Lunar month.
He was born in Ipoh and worked as a rubber tapper. He moved the family to Perlis 66 years ago.
Rui Fang said her father was very health conscious, adding that he would consume health supplements daily and kept himself positive and happy over the years.
