Umno Wangsa Maju Wanita division chief Datuk Noor Aieni Mohd Ali said under the ruling, the underaged should not be allowed to leave their houses between 10pm to 5am daily without adult supervision.

She said having a stricter regulation would curb the involvement of teenagers in various immoral activities, such as gangsterism and abuse of drugs.

“We suggest to the government to make an order or law amendments to allow for the curfew of those below the age of 21.

“This will ensure the teenagers are under the supervision of parents, as well as ensuring none of them involve themselves in ‘rempit’ activity, hanging out at 24 hour restaurants, loitering in public parks and conducting immoral activities,” she said.

“We urge the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry to draft the method of implementation of the curfew,” she said in his speech at the Umno Wanita assembly at Putra World Trade Centre.

In her argument, Noor Aieni said allowing the youth to involve themselves in immoral activities could lead them to commit criminal acts.

While acknowledging that the proposal could be hard to be implemented, Noor Aieni said the curfew would be the best method in guiding the youth from being deviated into vices.

“I hope that the suggestion could be given consideration to ensure that the youth can be competitive in the challenging globalisation,” she added.

Noor Aieni also called the government to put its focus on the agenda of eradicating drug abuse among the youth in total.
