Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said he should not be compared with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s wife Rosmah Mansor, who was not elected to her post.
“There is a difference between me and Rosmah. I am holding the post as chief minister, I became the chief minister after being elected by the people.
“Rosmah was not elected by the people. She obtained her position by marrying Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak,” Lim told a press conference at Komtar today.
He was responding to Rosmah’s aide Rizal Mansor, who roped in Lim when responding to DAP assemblyperson Yeo Bee Yin, who wanted the prime minister’s wife to relinquish her post as the patron of Permata.
Stating that Rosmah’s educational background made her suitable for the post, Rizal questioned whether Lim had expertise in water research, since he was appointed as chairperson of the Penang Water Supply Corporation.
Meanwhile, Lim said Kedah Menteri Besar Ahmad Bashah Hanipah also has several posts in the state due to his position.
“It doesn’t matter what his educational background is, he holds state government posts due to his post as menteri besar.
“So do not drag me into this issue as our (Rosmah’s and Lim’s) situations are different. Our posts (held by Ahmad Bashah and Lim) are in line with our positions as chief minister and menteri besar,” he added.
