PETALING JAYA – The Government has appointed former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Idris Jala (pix) as an independent party to recommend a way forward for Felda Global Ventures (FGV).
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement Wednesday that Idris would “establish the facts of the case and recommend the way forward regarding the decision by the Felda Global Ventures (FGV) board to suspend its chief executive officer, chief financial officer and two other senior members of the management team after consultation with all relevant parties.”
It said the relevant parties have agreed to the appointment of Idris.
It said those consulted were Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad, the chairman of Felda, the single biggest shareholder of FGV; FGV chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad; FGV chief executive officer Datuk Zakaria Arshad and FGV chief financial officer Ahmad Tifli Mohd Talha.
The board of FGV, the world’s third-largest palm plantation operator, suspended Zakaria on Tuesday.
