MALAY TEACHER TRIED TO COAX MARRIED WOMAN INTO HAVING SEX WITH HIM

KUANTAN – A primary school teacher who allegedly attempted to coax a married woman into having sex with him was charged in the Sessions Court here.

Safriduwan Safar, 43, claimed trial to three different charges when it was read out in front of Sessions Court judge Siti Aminah Ghazali on Friday.

According to the charge sheet, the accused allegedly tried to persuade a married woman to have intercourse with him at a house in Lorong Pandan Makmur 2 here.

The alleged offence, which falls under Section 498 of the Penal Code for enticing with criminal intent a married woman, was committed at 11.57am on March 4.

If convicted, Safriduwan could face imprisonment of up to two years, a fine or both.

He was also charged with having in possession 63 pictures and 22 videos in his smartphone that were pornographic, and is accused of having tried to upload them on social media.

For allegedly possessing obscene material, he was charged under Section 292(a) of the same Code and if found guilty, could face a jail term of up to three years, a fine or both.

Safriduwan was also charged under Section 233(1)(a)(i) of the Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities or network services.

If convicted, he faces a maximum fine of RM50,000, a maximum jail term of one year, or both, and shall also be liable to a further fine of RM1,000 for every day during which the offence is continued after conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Shahrizzat Amadan requested for a bail of RM30,000 with one surety for all three charges.

Safriduwan who was unrepresented, pleaded for a lower bail, saying he had to support three children with only a take home salary of RM600 and that his wife is a bankrupt.

Sessions judge Siti Aminah set bail at RM15,000 with one surety and fixed mention for Aug 1.
