KUALA LUMPUR – MCA is eyeing young and capable candidates with good leadership skills to contest in the coming general election, says party president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
“Chinese leaders who feel that they are winnable candidates are welcome to join MCA,” Liow told reporters Thursday after launching the world’s first Belt and Road-themed SME mobile clinic by the MCA Belt and Road Centre (MBrace) at Wisma MCA.
He added that the MCA election machinery was in top gear and had received overwhelming response and support from its members.
He said the Chinese community wanted to see a multi-ethnic country that is ruled based on moderation and consensus.
“We need to look at the bigger picture and what the community wants.
“We hope that the Chinese community will give MCA the opportunity. We have a say in the Federal Government and we will bring in the necessary changes,” he said.
Liow also gave his best wishes to Umno on behalf of MCA on the occasion of the party’s 71st anniversary.
