- With due respect to the statement by Tourism and Culture Minister Dato’ Seri Nazri Aziz, it not in our culture to call Robert Kuok not to be a “pondan” over allegations of financial support. MCA is of the view that Robert Kuok is a businessman who has benefitted Malaysians in general. He is our business icon and revered by Malaysians from all ethnic backgrounds. He should not be involved in any politicking, let alone to contest in the GE14.2. Nazri’s closeness to Lim Guan Eng is open knowledge. His statement on the surface may seem to be lambasting Robert Kuok but in effect is not helping BN or MCA but helping DAP and Lim Guan Eng instead. Why train your guns on Robert Kuok and not DAP vis-a-vis the Penang Tunnel Gate issue?3. Robert Kuok as a businessman has every right to support whichever political party he deems fit. Personally, I believe he as a businessman could have supported many political parties and politicians from BN or PH too. There is no need to overreact by being ill mannered in this instance.
4. However if there are any treacherous acts or political agenda to undermine the government or the stability, we have our laws and intelligence to deal with this.
5. As GE14 is getting closer, let us maintain our cool and not go overboard in our attacks or counter-attacks. We are confident BN is a better political party with clear distinct policies and products that will sell better to the voters.
6. Not only Robert Kuok but all businessmen who have benefited from the BN policies and political stability should be thankful and reciprocate with their support.
