RIYADH – Terrorism not only kills thousands of people worldwide but also tarnishes the image of Islam as a noble religion, said Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud (pix).
Mohamed, who is also the Defence Minister, said that it was time that Islam was no longer misused by terrorists to further their twisted ideologies.
“We can’t let them blemish the name of the religion anymore,” he said at the inaugural meeting of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) here on Sunday.
He said the meeting was a strong signal that the countries in the coalition were against terrorism and extremism.
The meeting of the 41-nation pan-Islamic coalition was held at the Al Faisaliah Hotel hotel here amid tight security.
Besides Saudi Arabia, a long list of Arab countries such as Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, together with Turkey, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Gulf Arab and African states are in the coalition.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein also attended meeting.
IMCTC have said that they will fight terrorism through four domains: Ideology, Communications, Counter-Terrorist Financing and the Military.
