BEING approachable and close to the people will help candidates be selected to represent Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 14th general election.
“The choice of candidates, who are close to the people, will determine the victory of the BN,” said Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein after opening the Sembrong Felda Settlers Carnival at the Felda Ulu Belitong field in Kluang today.
Earlier, Hishammuddin was reported to have said the selection of candidates was the most thorough in the history of the general elections.
Meanwhile Johor Baru Member of Parliament Shahrir Abdul Samad advised Umno leaders to constantly go down to the ground to meet the people.
He said this approach was more effective as it allowed elected representatives to meet the people directly to know the problems faced by them.
“Don’t be like the opposition who used social media excessively to spread slander, let us (BN leaders) do it our way,” said the Johor Bahru Umno Division chief.
