PETALING JAYA – A married couple was found dead in an apartment unit in Lembah Permai, Ampang on Friday.
Police said the 41-year-old man and his 36-year-old wife were believed to have committed suicide over mounting debts.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Alias said police were informed of the incident by a member of the public.
Investigations showed that the man worked as a lorry driver while his wife was a clerk.
“It is believed that they died from suffocation due to smoke from burning charcoal. Preliminary investigations showed no criminal elements,” said ACP Hamzah.
The bodies have been sent to Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia for post-mortems.
