HADI IN STABLE CONDITION AFTER HEART VALVE REPLACEMENT SURGERY AT IJN

PETALING JAYA – PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang successfully had heart valve replacement surgery at the National Heart Institute (IJN) Tuesday morning.

In a statement, IJN revealed that Abdul Hadi’s daily activities were being affected due to increasing symptoms from a leaking heart valve and surgery was planned following advice from doctors.

Hadi is currently warded at IJN’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where his condition will be observed over the next few days as is routine in post-heart surgery cases.

“The next 48 hours is the crucial period in his post-operative care and he will be under close observation in ICU by a team of doctors and nurses,” the hospital added.

The three-hour surgery was performed by a panel of doctors led by IJN CEO and senior consultant cardiothoracic surgeon Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Azhari Yakub, cardiothoracic surgery head Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Jeswant Dillon and anaesthesiology department deputy head Datuk Dr Suhaini Kadiman.

“Doctors are happy that the procedure progressed as anticipated and his vital parameters thus far are stable, and have advised against Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi receiving any visitors with the exception of immediate family members,” said the hospital’s representative.
