PETALING JAYA – The skeletal remains of a man were found hanging from an air duct in the basement of a hypermarket in Kota Damansara here.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations officer Mohd Hissam Sidik said a team of firemen from Sungai Buloh were deployed to the scene after a distress call was received at about 4.30pm Saturday.
The remains were apparently found by a contractor who stumbled upon the fully-clothed skeleton hanging from the duct located in an unlit area hidden from sight.
Mohd Hissam said the remains were handed over to the police for further investigation.
Police have identified the deceased as Dammar Bahadur Thapa from Nepal, who was working as a cleaner.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said the deceased’s work permit expired in December 2015.
He added that the Dammar had been dead for at least two months. However, his remains were odourless when discovered by the contractor.
