KUALA LUMPUR – Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin today urged the party cybertroopers to apply the “copy and paste” technique when posting on social media.
Speaking at the Umno Social Media Convention today, Khairy taught the cybertroopers to take advantage and piggyback on existing social media comments if they wanted to provide their thoughts on heavy issues online.
He said this could be done if the cybertroopers wanted to present an intellectual comment on social media without relying too much on doing their own research.
“One of the method that I have learnt to take information and to write something that look smart and intellectual is by reading other people’s comments.
“We look for a comment on a posting that has received the most thumbs up … we take the information, copy paste it and change the wording, the comment will then become viral,” he said.
“It is not hard. It is easy. Use any popular comment. If we do not want to use facts that are too heavy, such as on GST and budget, we can use a comment that makes sense and logical,” he told hundreds of Umno IT bureau members at the convention held at Putra World Trade Centre.
Khairy also reminded the cybertroopers to incorporate humour elements into their social media postings if they want to attract the public’s attention.
“If it is not attractive and not funny, it will not receive attention. Try to be funny,” he said.
He said the “Abah” moniker given to him on social media came about because he got the attention of the youth.
“I played with the Abah label. Everywhere I go, the youth called me Abah … when we have a brand on social media, it will be easier for the rakyat to relate with us, like us and trust us,” he said.
