KEPALA BATAS – PAS’ central committee will meet on Thursday to decide the fate of its three Selangor executive councillors.
PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin said that although the party’s syura council had decided to sever ties with PKR, the positions of the three state excos had yet to be finalised.
“We will leave it to the party’s central committee to discuss and decide.
“They will be meeting in Kuala Lumpur to discuss the matter this Thursday”, he told reporters after launching the party’s Kepala Batas division election machinery at Kota Aur here on Sunday.
It was reported that Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali had asked PAS’ three excos – Datuk Iskandar Samad, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Zaidy Abdul Talib – to resign during an hour-long meeting on Friday.
On whether the party is expecting the three to resign from their positions as state representatives, Hashim said it was inevitable but hinted that there may be a “higher authority” in Selangor which would not allow the three to relinquish their posts.
On another matter, Hashim said PAS is open to cooperating with other parties, not just Umno, on condition that the party agrees with PAS that Islam must be the basis of the country’s administration.
